Acrylic, oil/cold wax and SoulCollage®
As an art therapist, I lived my life in awe of the creative process. I taught in the Mt Mary University Graduate Art Therapy program for many years and witnessed the transformative/healing aspects of art in myself, my clients and my students. Now that I am retired, I feel I have a last chance, now or never, opportunity to be an artist.
Currently, I paint to explore the mysteries of the creative process. Painting non-representationally with acrylics allows me to practice being free and also affords me the opportunity to negotiate the panic of being lost. Oil and cold wax provides the opportunity to relish the extraordinary beauty of color and texture. Some days I leave my studio in bliss; other days I am perplexed and confused. But always there is the brushing against the inherent beauty and wisdom of the creative process. Always there is the struggle to be an artist.
