CAG PROGRAMS SHINE THEIR LIGHT ON THE ART OF “PRESENTATION.”
Two exciting evening programs, funded by the Cedargurg Artists Guild,
have been scheduled at the Cedarburg Cultural Center in Spring 2008:
‚ Tuesday, April 8th, 6:30 p.m: PRESENTING MYSELF AND MY ART TO
SELL! Two experienced experts in the arena of fine art exhibition and
sales will offer advice aimed to help artists reevaluate the ways they
present themselves and their work.
• Catherine Davidson, a highly respected Corporate Art Advisor based
in Milwaukee, has independently placed work in countless private and corporate
collections. She also worked with Bresler Galleries for many years. Find
out how corporations and other collectors search for and select fine art.
Davidson promises to bring samples to illuminate framing choices.
• C.T. Whitehouse is a successful sculptor living in Cedarburg with
his wife, Barbara Joosse. Previously he has worked as a designer, gallery
owner/director in Vail and Taos. His years as curator/arts administrator,
foundryman, and taxi driver offers a wealth of knowledge and experience
in presenting art. His remarks will also advise artists about the real-life
workings of the art world.
‚ Wednesday, May 21st, 6:30 p.m. at the CCC’s Founder’s
Room: Gina Litherland, whose 2007 painting exhibit at the Haggery Museum
brought rare accolades from critics and art lovers, will speak about her
artistic process, the ideas that generate her work, and her artist’s
journey. Articulate and enthusiastic, Litherland will offer us much to
ponder about the development of our own works.ART AROUND THE TABLE
CAG members continue gathering at the CCC each Tuesday between 10 a.m.
and 3 p.m. to work on their individual art projects while chatting. We’ll
periodically schedule a focus topic for discussion at noon. For our first
ART AROUND THE TABLE chat held early in February, CAG artists filled a
classroom, eager to share pamphlets, framing samples and ideas. Susan
Hale and Kitty Sturrock led an energetic and inspiring discussion while
we nibbled on our lunches and passed around information sheets,. Watch
the CAG newsletter or email announcements for topic updates. Be prepared
to bring along a bag lunch. Whether or not the discussion is a focused,
planned one, the gatherings are fun.
